BOV Opera Festival: from the 17th till the 24th of March 2010 For Opera lovers, the month of March in Malta is synonymous with the fantastic BOV Opera Festival. Held at the atmospheric and charming Manoel Theatre in Valletta, the 2010 festival promises to present yet another set of beautiful operas. On the 17th and 19th of March, the Manoel Theatre stages its very own production with Malta’s best singers and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by the very talented Brian Schembri. The month of March at the Manoel Theatre is synonymous with the BOV Opera festival. This year The Manoel Theatre presents yet another series of fresh and exciting operas for this annual event. For more information on which operas will be performed during the festival, contact the Manoel Theatre at bookings@teatrumanoel.com.mt Seher il-Punent Gharb Festival: from the 19th till the 22nd of March 2010 Set in the charming little village of Gharb in Gozo, this festival celebrates art, culture, music and history. During the festival many venues are transformed into arts and crafts displays. This festival also gives visitors the chance to savor life as it was in the old days since it includes re-enactments of village life exactly as it was in the past. This day is known and celebrated as Freedom Day and is one of the five national holidays in Malta and Gozo. Most of the activities on this day take place in Vittoriosa where a beautiful monument marks this important event in the history of Malta.
