What's On in Malta: February 2010
Feast of St. Paul, Valletta - 10th February 2010 The village or town feast is very much part of Maltese culture and heritage. The feast of St. Paul is the first one that is celebrated. (Many others are held in the summer months). The streets in Valletta come alive on the 10th of February as the locals commemorate St. Paul's shipwreck on the Maltese islands in 60 AD! Malta Carnival 2010 - 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th & 16th February 2010 Come and discover 5 whole days of fun, dancing and celebrations at the colourful Malta Carnival. Carnival in Malta is celebrated in many towns and villages but during this time, the main focus is on Valletta and Floriana. In Guardia - 7th, 21st and 28th February 2010 The In Guardia Parade is a historical re-enactment portraying historical events that used to took place at Fort St. Elmo. What you can expect to see: some 70 re-enactors dressed in impressive uniforms from the Knights of St John period, re-enacting interesting events. Starts at 11.00am (some 40 minutes long). In Guardia is held periodically at Fort St. Elmo - Valletta. Tickets at the gate (Adults: Euro 5 Children and Students: Euro 3).

Medieval Mdina Festival: from the 9th of April till the 11th of April 2010 A three day festival with a Medieval theme in the evocative Medieval city of Mdina. If you're visiting Malta in April, then this is one festival that you don't want to miss - definitely one of our favourites from our What's On in Malta list! Malta International Fireworks Festival - 29th and 30th April 2010 In it’s 9th consecutive year, this fireworks festival is very popular with locals and visitors alike. What's On in Malta: May 2010
Luqa at War: 15th of May 2010 This unique event is the perfect opportunity for people to experience the correlation between Luqa and World War II. The village of Luqa played a crucial role in the war because of the airport close by. During the event, there will be re-enactments of that period. A Victory Kitchen will be set up and you can see what type of food was served during those times. You will be able to hear live testimonials of World War II as well as see documentaries and listen to a military band. A must visit event, especially if you’re interested in learning more on the World War II’s effect on Malta. Entrance is FREE and the event will be held at the Main Square in Luqa. Victoria International Arts Festival – Gozo: From the 8th of June till the 12th of July 2010 If you’re an art lover than this festival is for you. Spanning over various weeks, this festival is organized in charming city of Victoria, the capital of Gozo island. Notte Bianca in Valletta – 25th September 2010 This is one of our favourites from our What's On in Malta list. A highly popular event, the Notte Bianca this year is going to be held on the night of September 25th. The event draws thousands of Maltese people and visitors to Valletta each year, and for good reason! What's On in Malta: October 2010
BirguFest: from the 8th till the 10th of October 2010 This three day event is held in the charming and historic town of Birgu. One of the highlights of the festival is the Birgu by Candle Light, when the streets and narrow lanes of this atmospheric city are lit ONLY by thousands of candles. Truly a magical night! Museums and churches are open until late and there's musical entertainment at Victory Square, as well as traditional food stalls. Rolex Middle Sea Race – Grand Harbour, Valletta: From the 16th till the 23rd of October 2010 A much awaited race for sailing enthusiasts, the Rolex Middle Sea Race has over the years become a very popular event for young and old alike. The race starts on the 16th from the magnificent Grand Harbour in Valletta – opposite the Saluting Battery in Valletta and Fort St’ Angelo in Birgu. Thousands of people go to either side to watch and enjoy this exciting yearly sailing event. Traditional Maltese Games Festival – 14th of November 2010 The city of Birgu will be hosting this entertaining and cultural event on the 14th of November. This unique festival will be held in the streets of Birgu and in the Inquisitor’s Palace. The festival’s main aim is to engage both children and their parents and try to revive old traditional games that used to be played in the island’s villages many years ago.
