From March onwards, the weather starts getting warmer and rainfall is considerably less than in January and February. It can still get a bit chilly though, particularly in the evenings and especially if it’s windy. So if you’re thinking of visiting Malta in March, pack some jumpers and coats.
Having said that, make sure to pack swim wear as well because if it’s a bright sunny day it can really feel as if it’s summer already. In fact, you often see visitors sunbathing on the beach or by the pool of their hotel. The sea would still be cold to swim though. March weather in Malta is perfect for walking and also for doing lots of sightseeing. If your itinerary allows it, try to get the ferry to Gozo. Gozo is Malta’s sister island and at this time of year is a delight to visit. Gozo is much quieter than Malta and much greener! Perfect if you really want to have a relaxing vacation.
